We originally moved our summer holiday to next summer... then decided we didn’t want to spend all that money on a holiday with so many restrictions. We cancelled and got the money on a credit note. However we then got tempted by the cheap Air France deal and booked! However we will not go to Disney as I don’t want to go there with no parades etc. I think by next summer I will be happy to sit by a pool and eat at my favourite Orlando restaurants! Hopefully this will be possible! I need something to look forward to! It will be our 6th trip and we enjoy a lot of things beyond Disney!

I have 2 deposits down covering everything, 1 is refundable, and the other is with WDTC so can probably just move it if necessary. June 2021 is only time at present that 5 of us can travel together (unless we were to try some kind of last minute booking).

I have no idea if we will be going or not but reckon it all just hinges on the figures by next spring or possible vaccine/treatment updates. Masks is biggest issue for us I think and we will be looking at travelling around Florida and avoiding 14 days of theme parks if we decide to keep the flights anyway

Just keeping fingers crossed!

Sadly I agree. It’ll be years before we are back to some form of normality. I mean we may not even get a vaccine. Nothing is guaranteed yet. I’m just taking everyday as it comes at the moment.

A little nuts I expect is the answer! Financially, I’ve mitigated any loss best I can. I fully expect there will be restrictions still (masks, no parades etc) but as a party of adults we can manage that. But I think your right, my head says I should have waited before making firm plans but my Orlando addiction, (potentially misplaced) optimism and yearning for a holiday has overruled it !

Was meant to be travelling in two weeks time
For my husbands 40th & my kids first trip (ages 1 & 2)... as with all Dibbers gutted. But it’s getting to me more now that I don’t have anything booked. We’ve pencilled in November 2021 for my sons 4th birthday but it would need to be the parks we remember... characters, fireworks, no masks.

It may be unlikely... I just don’t know... but I still think I’ll Book the flights come January & have something to aim for.

First world problems I know but feel like I’m missing out on those early Disney years with the kids. Many more to come. But just not what I’ve always had in mind.

So... you’re not nuts alone. Hope it works out for you

I’ve done exactly the same but not booking any flights until a lot nearer the time so we can make a definitive decision a lot closer to the time.

Your points are very valid and exactly why we’re waiting till 2022 to go back. It’s bad enough having to wear a mask all day every day at work, I can’t bare the thought of having to do it on holiday aswell. If masks are still a factor in 2022 then we will reconsider our plans. It’s no biggy, but I refuse to spend all that money and not be entirely happy with everything!

I really hope you are right. My mental health has taken some battering throughout all this. I'm booked for September 2021 and really praying things are alot better by then. I need something to look forward to, even if it doesnt go ahead. It's all that's keeping me sane right now and given my children something positive to look forward to.

We have booked for Sept but only booked things we can cancel. We only have 1 window of opportunity next year and are DVC so have to balance going and using the points against the experience. If we have to wear masks I would be fine but DS and DH won’t so it will be cancelled. Out of all the other restrictions I thinks it’s only fireworks we would be sad about missing so if we can fly maskless we will be happy. Not holding my breath though as at the moment don’t think it’s better than 50/50. Was so good to get excited about something and have something to look forward to. Yes we are nuts but then some people would think we are nuts in a normal year for going back regularly, spending all that money again and again to wave at a mouse 😂😂😂😂

2021 is not that far fetched. I'm hovering over the book button for June. I also disagree that things won't get better.

We're all different and for us it's about perspective...the parks are open the restaurants and bars open and where better than Florida soaked in Sun to have a socially distant outdoor holiday. We don't need the Disney magic with all the bells and whistles, never known it so it's not a deal breaker.

Let me share something I didn't know until a few days ago. Universal (not sure about other parks) have a dedicated rest zone where you can sit and relax with your mask off.

Yes it will be different but my advice is not to get hung up on masks and social distancing. Being able to sit in a dining area without some guy edging his chair into your space actually sounds amazing. We might just give it a try. To book or not to book...

Edited to point out I know not everyone is Ok with masks for a number of reasons medical, mental or other. I don't mean my post to be dismissive of that issue.

Edited at 08:55 AM.
