We changed the locking mechanism on our front door to stop this, it wont open from the outside unless you have a key. I would be quite cross if someone opened my front door esp as I have a very large dog.

I’m surprised that people leave front doors unlocked. We’ve got an outer and inner door, and both are always locked. I’m often in the house on my own during the day, and my office is at the back, I’d be constantly paranoid someone would enter. I always keep the back door locked as well.
As a PP said, I don’t know where you’d stand on insurance if your property was left open.

I never lock my doors sometimes I forget when I go out.
Never had an issue. |

If someone had opened my door, delivery or not I would have been mightily peeved off at them. There is no need to be trying door handles. Are staff trained to do this by Amazon or whichever delivery company used?
I don't know this person that could be opening my door, he most probably will be an honest and reliable individual but as CCTV has proven many times some of these delivery drivers are not so honest. So not a chance would I be OK with this. To be honest if I were the delivery driver I would be very careful in this situation as it leaves them open to a world of complaints and other issues.

We keep our front door locked. It's a habit we've got into since a sneak thief walked into a neighbours house and stole her handbag.
We have a loo opposite the front door, the loo door opens when the front door opens, a better reason to keep it locked

It is a rare occurrence when going out to be fair, We normally do lock up when we are not in but not always. |
