BA flights from two airports - why?
Why are some flights with BA to MCO next year from Heathrow, but and others are from Gatwick?
Is there a chance some of these flights might be changed or consolidated ? Looking to put a deposit on flights but worried about connecting flights |

Showing as two from LGW and one from LHR daily in summer. The later LGW at same time as the LHR. Can’t see both these running. Fully expect some consolidation.

I very much agree with you. I may be wrong but the fact the departure times are exactly the same for some flights rings alarm bells for me.
Being a cynic I am wondering if BA is putting the arm on Gatwick for cheaper landing slots and if they don't get what they want they will move across to Heathrow as they will never give up their valuable slots there.

I noticed that too. We prefer Heathrow so have booked BA @ 1:25pm for Oct 2021, they also had 2 other flights that day from Gatwick, the 10am one and one in the afternoon. I just hope they keep the direct flight to MCO from Heathrow and not move all the direct flights over to LGW x

I agree that only one will run but see it slightly differently. At the moment they are out of Gatwick and using spare slot capacity at Heathrow to reduce costs.
If business increases and they want those slots back for other routes, then they just bring Gatwick back online and switch the flight to there. Alternatively, they may be assessing how much extra business having an LHR flight to Orlando brings through connections - not just UK but across OneWorld - before making a final decision. I certainly wouldn't be booking any non-refundable hotels, parking, etc for those flights at this time.

BA pulled out of Gatwick at the height of the pandemic & moved flights to Heathrow; I’m guessing they’ll see what demand & progress with international travel is like before deciding whether to move back to Gatwick; they’ll ditch Gatwick in favour of Heathrow if it came to a choice between the two.

I've seen flights from both, I've booked from the cheapest, which for my dates are LGW. Doesn't make a huge difference to us which one, but when it 3 or 4 persons at £30 a pop we'll deffo go with the cheapest. Would prefer LHR due to the distance but it's marginal.
