MCO - Atlanta - MAN
Hi
Flying back in October via Atlanta, the time to get on the international flight is less than an hour. We have been told that this is fine and as its a through flight its quite easy to change plans. Has anyone done Delta to Atlanta then Virgin to Manchester, how close are the gates?

Seems tight for me but you don't have to collect luggage or immigration so depending on how close the gates are then you should be fine

I Think on return it was one stop on the train then a 10 min walk to the terminal.

1hr is fine provided you do not suffer any delays in arriving in Atlanta !
Add a 30 to 45 minute delay from MCO and then it doesn't look so good ! |

Getting Excited

We did this route in May and were reassured that 1 hour was the minimum and Virgin guaranteed this.
Severe storms were over Atlanta and we had to circle the airport for about 2 hours and we only had 1 hour 10mins between flights. We were worried sick while we were in the air but when we landed they called for us to disembark first along with another 50 or so passengers. Turns out a lot of people (maybe some Dibber's out there) had jumped on the same cheap deal and they had to hold the Virgin plane at Atlanta for us as there were so many making the connection. We had to follow a chaperone and run across the airport. We must have made it to the boarding gate in about 10 minutes including the train ride. Moral of the sory is you can never predict the weather but you can run the distance quite quickly (which is not easy with hand luggage and 3 kids in tow!)

It isn’t far to transfer but we found they start boarding the second flight about half an hour before the departure time so we literally arrived at the gate and boarded. No time for a loo break.

Have made a 35 minute connection but always better to have more time to stretch your legs etc. Most of our Delta flight into Atlanta were transferring into the Virgin flight.
