I’ve totally struggled this week with the Covid lockdowns and restrictions and the huge step backwards into high case numbers again. It’s Georgia’s birthday next week and I can’t visit her or have her home for a visit. It’s my birthday the week after and I feel restaurants etc will be closed by then so there will be no birthday celebrations for me this year. The rumours of the circuit break lockdown worries me, but as we can’t leave our small area anyway, I don’t know if it makes any difference. I just want to see my kids 😢
That must be really difficult for you, how sad.

I understand the need to lock down areas and have these restrictions to stop the spread, but at the same time, it’s at a huge detriment to people’s mental health. I think there needs to be a point where they weigh up what’s going to be most detrimental in the long run as it’s so tough on people that can’t see their families or that are losing their businesses.

You can always talk to us whenever you’re feeling down, take care of yourself, I hope your area gets out of lockdown as soon as possible. 💜

They also went on to say that they are a positive person (basically shaming me because I was being negative about my situation).

I politely explained to them as best I could that just because other people might have had it worse, that doesn’t make the situation any less difficult for the person who is struggling and that doesn’t make their feelings invalid or wrong, we are human and we don’t choose how we feel and trying to shame someone into thinking they’re wrong for feeling the way they do is very low.

I also explained that some of us are realists, we aren’t negative, and we aren’t positive, we look at the whole picture and we are realistic about how we feel in regards to that situation, as not every situation needs a positive spin and forcing positive feelings into a negative situation isn’t always healthy. We need to be honest with ourselves in order to be truly happy.

I don’t think the message sunk in as they’ve always been a tad ignorant, but what I’m trying to say is, feel free to vent whatever you need to vent and never feel shame or guilt for doing that. We are only human and a healthy mind is one that isn’t burdened. I will never get fed up of people telling me how they feel, good or bad, I’ll always be hear to listen to anyone. 💜
My feelings are the same as yours, my worries may not be as big as some but they are very real. Everyone deserves to be listened to and needs empathy and compassion. We all need to show empathy and compassion to others too. I love that this thread gives this, without judgement or shaming others which sadly isn’t the case in many other SM forums at the moment

Totally agree, you can’t ever compare in life, we have all walked different paths and have all had different life experiences so we all feel things totally differently and we all react to situations in different ways and there’s nothing wrong with that. 💜

I’ve supported the restrictions and do feel that they are necessary in many ways, but the mental health and economy needs consideration too. It’s a difficult job to be a politician and I don’t envy them the decisions but I’m beginning to feel as if these lockdowns don’t seem to be having the desired effect anyway so we are suffering mentally and economically for very little or no gain.

Thank you for your kind words and support, it does help 💕 I hope things improve for you soon too and you get the best job ever xx

Nearly everyone I know is struggling to some extent. When I think of everybody's circumstances they've all got valid reasons. It just feels like one big mess with no end in sight.
