We decided to save the money in Feb this year though we ended up at the Crowne Plaza which is very near the Clayton. I thought as they were all on the same airport it wouldn’t make much difference.
Wow was I wrong! The shuttle didn’t come and then couldn’t fit all the guests on so we had to wait for another (we would have walked but we couldn’t work out if it was possible to do it safely). Then a big queue to check in because all the shuttle guests arrived at the same time (obviously). Repeat in the morning. I wished I’d spent the extra £20 to be able to stroll into the airport. I wouldn’t though have wanted to spend an extra £100 and I suspect next time we will just go to the PI and budget a tenner on a taxi

Like you we have stayed at the Radisson for our Manchester flights, also in a business room, but the prices have gone crazy so we are looking at Runger Lane too. We did have it booked for September and will rebook for next year, but if the Radisson came in at a good price we would go there for the closeness.

We did the park and stay at the Hilton last month. There were no shuttles (due to Covid) but I had no complaints. Was expensive but only worked out to £40 more than the cheapest parking in one of the far away car parks, so made sense to book a night instead. Could also be worth an option as it’s next door the Clayton.

We stayed at the Clayton last year for the first time, won't be going back. Asked for a quite room. The room was right opposite the lifts and when in the room all you could hear were some fans whirling away. A quick look out of the window too see air vents and fans presumably from the kitchens was making the noise. Hardly slept, plus the pillows were hard. Wish I had gone down to reception and asked if they had another room free. Back to Crown Plaza or Holiday Inn for us next time.

We stayed at the Raddison a couple of times, then DH decided to save money by staying at the Clayton. It was OK but, waiting for the shuttle in the pouring rain after dropping our luggage off wasn’t fun. Checkin was slow. The room was OK but nothing special. It might have been in walking distance but not with my knee and hand luggage and appalling weather. We booked a shuttle but when we came down in the morning it was basically a free for all as names weren’t checked.
Next time we were back at the Raddison, more expensive but a better experience. We decided we don’t like relying on shuttles and like strolling around the terminals in the evening to get snacks etc |

This was so us! We haven’t used a shuttle for years having always stayed at Gatwick PI and walked or Heathrow hotels on the free bus zone. I thought the shuttle would be fine but I realised it drove me mad back then and still now but the memory had faded as it had been so long 😂 taxi and PI next time or Radisson. Not that I can see us flying from MAN again since Flybe stopped trading 😢

Thanks everybody, lots of things to consider.
When I think back, it was bit of a free for all, getting in the shuttle at the Clayton and who knows what the set up will be if / once flights restart. I’ll have a look at the Premier inn, just we won’t have our car with us and I hate worrying about organising taxis (worrying if they’ll turn up). Negative with the Radisson is the price, although I’ve been told I can get interconnecting rooms so I imagine we’ll have a lot of space. Decisions!

I had 2 rooms interconnecting booked for this aug, worked out a lot cheaper than a family room, shame we didnt get to use it. Maybe next year.
