We have bought a small handful of pins just to get the boys started. They were from Ebay and have the genuine logo on the back. I even checked a couple out on line just to make sure! We will also be doing an early trip to the Character Warehouse to get some more. Sounds a bit geeky but I'm planning on making them a photo frame for each of them with the pins they collected around the outside of their favourite photo as a keepsake for when they get home.

The Dibb has its own forum for pin trading; https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=176

Assume all pins are fake except the ones you pay for from Disney. Beware of pin sharks, they'll trick you to buy genuine pins to trade for fakes. Future World in Epcot is good.

You can get some in the Disney Store here in UK (just on a card with about 4 or 5 pins I think). A member of staff said the cast members in Disney go mad for them as they are only available in the UK.

They also loved some of the ones we had from DL Paris

Buy some before you go and do the usual checks about the seller.. Our kids loved trading for 4/5 years up to they where about 13/14. It became a little costly as they started collecting set , ie princesses for my daughter, lion king caricature , Micky on everything . They now have a collection of 5/600 each stashed away. We thought the whole experience of trading was great for them to learn how to interact with other people and they became pin experts very quickly and spotted what they wanted to trade at a glance. So overall a good idea but try and narrow down the type they want to collect to films or certain subjects.

I've bought pins off a specialist shop on eBay for years - they seem genuine to me and I've never had a problem trading them in the parks. Am I allowed to post the name?

Our DD has lots of pins and dh did once buy some on ebay but I wasn't convinced they were all real. She displays them on a canvas board in her bedroom. We tend not to trade now as I'd hate for her to trade one of her expensive pins for one that is fake.

Although there are fakes on ebay, there are for just about any product you care to name, more are likely to cime of the same product line and are more what you call grey imports. The company gets an order for say 5000 from Disney but they then produce 6000 and the extra 1000 are sold from other sources such as ebay. Happens all the time again with loads of products.
