DS has applied for new passport should be 3 weeks 🤞once that’s back he can attend an appointment to get his visa - he was told 11 days but needs his passport to make the appointment. I will update once the new passport is here and an actual appointment is booked!

Hi Everyone
An update in case this can help anyone in the future. So DS got his passport back within two weeks and he was then able to apply for an interview to get a visa. He had to do it online and was told they would email him back with an appointment. They took 4 working days to get back to him and he has been given an appointment for the beginning of July. He has all the evidence needed for the working visa for Canada (proof of no convictions etc) so he will take all that with him and hopefully I will be letting you know that all is ok. We go in October but it shows how important it is not to leave it until the last minute!

Thanks again for all your support when this happened, it really did help. Anyway DS had his visa appointment and although he was a bit nervous he said it went fine. He was only in there for 20 minutes and the girl he spoke to said it happens a lot. He was verbally approved, left his passport there and got it through the post in less than a week with his 10 year visa. Phew!

Glad he got sorted WW, massive relief all round and luckily you were on the ball and dealt with it asap
Interesting that the Embassy interviewer advised 'it happens a lot', which backs up those berated and accused of scaremongering when advising ESTA application should be made well in advance of ones holiday, irrespective of ones VWP history ESTA is not a given. Have a smashing holiday when you head off WW. Thanks again for the update
