I'm setting myself a target & sharing it...

I want to do my 2018 holiday at Yacht Club / Royal Pacific Resort, 2 Adults, 2 Children, in August school holidays for (all in)... £8,500

So far we know that 11 nights Yacht Club + 14 day ultimates is going to come to £6,000 - £189 cashback = £5,811.

That leaves me £2,689 for spending, 3 nights Royal Pacific Resort and Universal Tickets...

But I do love collecting air miles and already have £1,426 worth. I'm aiming to fly with Virgin Direct in August for free

Watch this space...

Don't Virgin reward seats work similarly to BA reward seats in that you still have to pay the taxes, fees, duties & surcharges in cash?
That could amount to £300 or more per adult; not sure about kids fares but you probably need to account for that in your budget.

Not with the new miles + money option. It's the first time it's offered the opportunity of truly 'free' cost flights. Last year we did a full reward redemption and the total was £740 for the taxes. Hence this year I want to go one better haha! I am aware though that it's not the best 'value' use of the miles but wouldn't it be fun to fly for free!

Ah ok, that's good.
Great to be on a flight that costs a fraction of the rack rate; we 're on our next in less than 2 weeks!

Quick Update on £8,500 target: (it's kind of like a financial pre-trip report!)

2 Adults, 2 Children, August 2018

Known
Disney's Yacht Club 11 nights - £6,000 (£252 cashback in the end - will use for spending money)

Estimates
Universal RPR 3 nights £692 (best price seen on Travel Republic so far)
Universal 3 Park Tickets £920 (too hopeful perhaps? )
Flights £1,620 currently:
... Based on finding a good price of about £3200 VA direct return
... Currently have saved £1,580 worth of miles - still saving...
Spending money to go £470 / $620 (already have $150 in cash leftover, $250 gift card and £252 cashback which I will convert to approx $300)

Total £9,702 (over target by £1,202 )

I'll carry on saving my air miles then...
