I also have no advice, but wanted to just wish you the very best; what a dreadful thing to be going through as a family.
I was looking around this time last year for August indirect flights and came up with reasonable ones around £500 per person with reasonable stops in the US (kayak was main search), but I've not been looking this year, so can't comment. |

I am sorry to hear of your wife's cancer and I truly hope you get to go to Florida, my Dad has incurable NETs with secondaries (diagnosed around the same time as your wife), we wanted to go away and dad's oncology nurse recommended All Clear, unfortunately for us they wanted the best part of £8,000 so we decided to stick to the UK but even though for us it was cost prohibitive insurers still agreed to cover him.

I'm in a similar situation to your wife. Insurancewith.com insured me for Florida. It was about £297 for two weeks. As long as your wife isn't on IV chemo then they should insure her and you have to be able to say you are stable. I usually ask my Oncologist to put in my notes I am fit to travel. Have a great holiday

You may find that it's not the treatment that is the issue, it's the fact that it's incurable. A lot of insurers won't cover terminal conditions. Your best bet is to contact BIBA (British insurance brokers association) they will be able to help, the companies that are on charity websites have paid for that privilege. BIBA is whole of market, its who I refer people at work if staysure or our sister company talk to Tim can't help.

DD has malignant tumours and seizures and was covered by Columbus for about £550, although not on treatment at time of travel. Wishing your family all the best for what will be a difficult time ahead. I hope that you get to go. X

Following my wife's op for breast cancer she underwent a course of radiotherapy at Addenbrookes in Cambridge. While we were there I was browsing a stand of booklets etc and picked up a Macmillan one covering travel insurance. They listed the following companies that might be able to provide cover for a patient undergoing or having received treatment for cancer :
freespirittravelinsurance.com goodtogoinsurance.com avantitravelinsurance.co.uk freedominsure.co.uk insurancewith.com jdtravelinsurance.co.uk insurecancer.com insurepink.co.uk itssoeasytravelinsurance.com miatravelinsurance.co.uk orbisinsurance.co.uk travelinsured.co.uk world-first.co.uk allcleartravel.co.uk According to the leaflet 'insurecancer' 'specialises in providing travel insurance to those with advanced cancer and active, metastatic, relapsed or terminal diagnosis. Can also provide travel insurance to patients participatingin cancer drug trials' Haven't tried any of them yet as my wife returns on Monday for (hopefully) a final appt with her Oncologist. |

Sorry about your wifes illness. This happened to us 4 years ago. Husband was 49 and diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 12 to 18 months. He wanted to go back to Florida for a holiday on Disney. We went through every insurance company in the McMillan insurance help booklets and prices ranged from £5k to £12k. Due to costs we were advised by one if the companies that we might be best to consider a possible cruise within Europe, which we did (Thomson). We had a great time and made lots of happy memories. We have been to Florida in the past few years and buy a balloon each time we go to Disney and let it fly away in Steves memory.
