Very strange - but unsurprising Tweet from Virgin - I do wonder if their social-media team are "based outside the UK"... if you get the drift.

Back in November, Tinker Belle had a bar of sorts - namely a cabinet probably a foot-18" deep at the back of the Upper Class cabin. They lined the drinks service up on here & poured drinks here, so maybe they class this as a bar. It was, however, not like the bars on the other 747's that fly the MCO route with 2 fixed barstools you could sit at should you so wish.

In theory, Virgin have got a spare 2-seater Upper Class bar knocking round somewhere from when they retired G-VTOP (Virginia Plain). Maybe it needed re-certifying for use and the cost was prohibitive?

Finally, the IFE is definitely not touch-screen. It's the on-demand system that some of the older Heathrow fleet (A340-600's) have. It's a good system and the content is similar to Vera-Touch (which the other 747's flying to MCO have). It would be commercial madness for Virgin to replace a working on-demand IFE system with a newer one [with near identical content] on an aircraft that only has 3 years or so left in the fleet. The cost of complete IFE replacement is huge.

Finally, some would argue the IFE system on Tinker Belle is better, as you have to use your handset to operate it - so no passengers thumping the screen on the seat-back of the person in front in PE / Economy.

I have asked Virgin this question in the past and been told no. Are you flying Upper? If so I don't think that being on G-VBIG will spoil your experience unless you had hoped to sit at the bar.

No, for both security and operational reasons this information is not released.

I agree with this! Found it much easier to use with the hand sets.

We flew back MCO-LGW on the 12th May on Tinker Belle. It was a little nerve racking when they had fuel leaking from the wing before take off but it was soon fixed with only a short delay. It was also the smoothest flight I've ever had back.

We flew to Orlando in October 2016 on Tinkerbell. We was in economy however the IFE was definitely touch screen. It is possible that it is only upper class which does not have the touch screen IFE as economy certainly did.

We were in PE last month and it wasn't touch screen, handsets only.

We are flying upper. Dad really wanted the experience of sitting at the bar 🍷Fingers crossed that we do not get Tinkerbell 😊
