Budapest is amazing!

I can't recommend anywhere fancy but for a nice lunch of proper, traditional Hungarian food I'd definitely recommend Retek Bistro, its right in the centre.

There are some absolutely amazing bars, the best being one called Boutiq, I could have stayed in there all weekend!

Have a great time.

I’d really recommend Rosenstein’s. It isn’t the cheapest restaurant and I would also say it’s not necessarily on the normal tourist trial (we were the only English speakers there).

But it is delicious, really good Hungarian food but done in a really lovely way. You definitely need to book but I did this via email and it was so easy. It’s easy to get there, you can get the metro and then it’s about a 2/3 min walk from the station. It does look a bit dodgy when you are walking up but it’s not dodgy at all and it’s lovely!

Otherwise the Jewish quarter is great, loads of lovely bars and restaurants.

I love Budapest. I have family over there so visit often.

I'll caveat this by saying it's over 10 years since I last went but I ate several times at a restaurant called Spoon and it was excellent. It's on the fancy side and located on a boat on the river so a nice location.

a place called Robinson was also good. And backing up the comments to take warm clothes because when it is cold it is proper freezing.

The ruin bars are GREAT fun. All I would say is to avoid the toilets. I did not and they were HORRID and I’ve seen some questionable toilets in SE Asia. Otherwise they were great fun and so cheap!

The big one Szlimpza Kert is great and has a super fun photo booth right at the entrance.

Our favourite thing we did in Budapest was a river cruise with dinner buffet. We booked this with Viatour so not totally sure of the boat company- we booked it as a spa and cruise combo viator/en-GB/tours/B...808SZECHDINNER (sorry not sure why its in $).

The cruise was magical going past all the lights of the city, and the food was actually really good- lots of traditional Hungarian food and very tasty. They also had live music.

We were staying in the Jewish quarter and we ended up going to the same oriental restaurant twice as it was so good! It was called Sao facebook/saofoodandbar
