There’s a great guide on MSE about section 75 which advises how to claim and who can and what for.

I have just submitted a Section 75 claim online as I paid flight only on my Amex card. Claim is just shy of £8k. Not sure if the money will just be refunded to my cc or into my bank? Ideally do not want that amount of money sitting on my cc as I will not be booking replacement flights before November.

So thankful that we can be fairly relaxed about this as we don't plan to travel until next October but absolutely gutted on behalf of Thomas Cook staff and those due to travel in the next few months

When I spoke to Barclaycard yesterday, to check we would be covered, they said that money would be paid onto cc used.

Not ideal if that is the case with Amex but just a small problem in comparison with those more imminently affected

I am going to try and claim for incidental costs as well, for increase in flights price. They may not pay out, but if I don't and then find out that I could have, I would be kicking myself

I won't be aware of any increase in price until I come to be able to book my flights in November when they are released. VH don't have availability on my dates currently (also didn't when I booked the TC flights) I will be interested to see how you get on

I'm in the same position as you tylergeorgia.

I booked flights only for 7 of us in April. At the time, I wasn't sure if 5 others (all of us family) could come. I then booked the other 5 on the same flight, with seats all next to us, about 2 months later. Obviously, my name is on the original booking for 7 of us, and isn't on the booking for 5 people (my mum is on that booking).

I used my HSBC credit card for both bookings, but I've yet to fill in their claim form.

Someone replied last night on the Thomas Cook thread that they've had no problems claiming under Section 75 for flights booked for others in the past, so that's given me hope.

I'll post any updates on my claim here.
