Anyone else charge family for Christmas dinner?

Having had the same family members around for the past few years, I felt it was only fair charging them for Christmas dinner. Before anyone thinks I'm being mean I don't charge Mrs MH or our son.

For the adults Christmas dinner I'm charging £24.95 and kids under 12 £14.95. For adults that includes 2 alcoholic drinks and 2 soft drinks for the kids.

My wife thinks they weren't happy when she told them about the meal charge, but in reality with all the overheads I'm not making a profit.

Does anyone else do the same?

Remember to get them to contribute to gas and electricity. It costs money to cook a turkey.

Our local pub is doing them for £6 each. Want the phone number so you can make a profit with the mess?

In fairness I have taken the electricity and gas costs into acccount with the £24.95 and £14.95 meal charges.

I doubt you will get the same quality meal as I provide. I don't like to brag or suggest I'm posh, but my paying guests also get a prawn cocktail for starters.

I think for that price you should guarantee a leg each.

The first 9 legged turkey. Still not enough to run away from the farmer.

I appreciate your comments, but I don't think my elderly mother was as understanding as you when she found about the meal charge.
