I tumble dry my daughters socks, well I tumble dry everyones socks, she hates a seam on her socks and now tights and first thing she does when she gets in from school is take them off. I put a tumble dryer sheet in which keeps them softer and wash and dry inside out so the seam is exposed and maybe gets bashed about a bit more to soften it up?

I was just coming on to suggest bamboo socks. They feel soft after washing and tumbling.

My grandaughter was like that with socks, once worn that was it, daughter washed them, soaked them in softener, trued tumble drying, tried not tumble drying, nothing worked, they didn’t feel right anymore. She ended up buying socks from Primark which when new were ok, they were something like £5 for 7 pairs so once worn she either passed them on or gave to charity. People use to say how wasteful but when you have a child you are trying to get to school and won’t put something on because it doesn’t feel right, she said £5 a week was worth it

thanks for the replies
it really help to hear from people who "get it" too I do usually tumble dry socks as I find that does make them softer and he def won't wear ones that are air dried but will try tumble dryer sheets and see if that makes any difference. I'll also try ironing them as maybe making that look newer might help? The bamboo socks look really interesting so will def order some of those to try. |

White vinegar. Gets rid of the trapped washing powder that makes it stiff. (Its what i use for towels)

I want to thank everyone who recommended bamboo socks
We are still having some issues and he's still not overly keen on wearing them once washed but he's not point blank refusing and eventually gives in and wears them so that is a massive improvement. Only down side is now he refuses to wear any that are not bamboo |
