What ages were all your children when they started treatment. One of main worries is that she is 13 soon and we have only just started the process, so will it be done before she reaches adulthood! ?

But then o it dentist has been adamant about not doing anything until her milk teeth were all out, so I guess that is now

My friends went private for their daughter as the nhs said that her teeth weren’t that bad and they were £70 a month for two years. My youngest had braces on the nhs (in Scotland) and after being referred by his dentist it took only six weeks before having an appointment with the orthodontist. He then had to go back to the dentist to have 4 teeth removed (overcrowding) and had his braces fitted within six months of his first appointment with the orthodontist. I believe it can be a bit of a postcode lottery though with some areas of Wales being the worst. Good luck whatever you end up doing and can only say that for my son it was completely worth it.

My DS is 14 going to be 15 in January, we have been told treatment will be for 2 years.
I had braces many years ago and I was 16 when I had them fitted, had them for the entire time I was at college.

He was 12 and had braces for 18 months and now just wears retainers at night.

Thank you. I guess I just don’t like not knowing and not being in control of a situation! The main thing is we are on the road now!

My daughter is 8 and at her appointment Tuesday they said she will probably need braces, so I asked when and dentist said they won't do them till all milk teeth gone and adult teeth through, so it depends?

My dd had hers done on the NHS, no teeth removed but overbite and pretty wonky. Braces done age 12 and removed 2 years later, all straight and just has to now wear her retainers at night

I put the ages on my first post, but just wanted to say that lots of their friends didn’t get braces until 13-14 and some still have them
now at 16-17. It’s so common nowadays that they just take it in their stride.
