Mobile Any sky q/tv experts here can give some advice?

I have no satellite signal and recordings aren’t available 😞

Problem is I’m not sure if it’s something I’ve done or an issue with the sky q. Their online troubleshooting is prompting my to book an engineer but maybe there’s something I’m missing and I can sort it out myself.

I’ve installed our new ring alarm today and the base unit was plugged in by the sky box and router. Finished installation, sat down for a cuppa and popped the tv on. It worked fine for about 5 minutes then stopped working mid Netflix show - sky had worked before I selected Netflix.

Since then I’ve shut everything down, checked all cabling and move the ring alarm away. Sky turns on but no signal or recordings. I can however access the apps and watch YouTube and Netflix.

There’s no issue with WiFi, that’s working fine, as is everything else connected to WiFi.

Any ideas what else I can try before resorting to booking an engineer?

Could the alarm base have caused an issue? It uses z wave.

Grateful for any assistance 👍

I think you can do resets on sky q box, I’ve had to do one before I just can’t remember how to go about it sorry

Thanks I’ll look that up, do you know if I’d lose all recordings if I do that?

When our Sky Q box decides to misbehave (which isn't very often) I find that turning it off at the mains for 10 seconds and then turning back on does the trick.

I end up having to do this approx every 4-6 weeks... SkyQ glitches on an update overnight generally.

I have had the no signal issue before too; snow on the satellite caused it once, torrential rain has caused it a few times and one time I've no idea what caused it, but a reboot fixed it.

Yes this normally works for us too, have tried numerous times though to no affect.

No bad weather here, maybe the reset will fix it. Will be trying shortly.

Could you have moved the dish feed ?
It only needs to be pulled out slightly to lose connection.
It could look it's fully pushed home.
It might be worth checking your signal strength in menu ?

Just checked and it was this 😀

Everything was pushed in fully but the cuff wasn’t screwed tight, reset after tightening and that’s fixed it.
