Editing
i am currently editing my first vacation video from my gopro and there is alot of content like shows (Festival of the Lion King), rides eg Seven Dwarfs and just some walking round the parks media, what's your advice on trimming it down to a more engaging movie using music compared to a boring long snorefest?

Editing is an artform in itself... Ultimately I suppose you could ask yourself what your plans are for the videos...
We share ours on Youtube, but I don't spend ages editing in to snappy videos and adding music because they're primarily for us to watch back in years to come, we just chose to share them for others to see. For the most part I tend to cut shows and parades to just highlights, it's hard to do full shows for videos which you end up sharing online because you'll be fighting Youtube's copyright recognition system and you don't want copyright strikes as that could cost you your channel (same for using any licensed music in videos without permission)... I do still have lots of full show footage stored locally for us to enjoy though. Edited at 12:29 PM. |

Story story story. Ask yourself what are you trying to say with your vid. Try and put some personal oppinon in but not too much. Just enough to give use a feel of who you are.

I go to the extreme short end of video, as really only me and the people I travel with care about the details.
In my signature is a YouTube link, and in that is a handful of Disney, Vegas and some other things all around 3 minutes long. One idea of many. |

I tend to use the YouTube 10 min limit as an aim. I do have the right to go over but mostly don't. Some days have more than one video. I stick by what I said; story is very important. Say what you want to say in as short a time that makes sense. That said make it a little personal, we want to know something about you. Check out the video trip reports in the trip reports section.
