General noise question, your experiences?
Hi everyone, hope you are all well and happy new year to you all.
A quick question if we may, which has always intrigued us but never bothered us (maybe because of where we have stayed) but wanted to ask... We have always stayed in various hotels on I.Drive over the past 7 stays and come past 10-11pm when we are shattered (guess like many others are) LOL and want to go to bed, we have NEVER had any problems with noisy neighbours or even been disturbed once. Now I guess some may say we've been lucky, as we have read of some horror stories on here before, so the reason for our question is because the Mrs wants to consider staying on site at a Resort for the 1st time, to make a change for our next visit, are these hotels very good for noise, or are they VERY different when compared to staying off site on I.Drive or in a Villa for example? As we say, because we've never done it before, we don't know what to think, so wanted to hear your opinions/experiences really? This may sound rather silly and this is a pure guess (because we honestly have no idea) and can only base our previous holidays on our personal experiences. So because of the sheer increase in capacity/volume in guests in some resorts compared to smaller hotels and the fact that some parks stay open till very late we are visualizing people partying till late, shouting down hallways, people just generally pratting around till the early hours, kids screaming at 4am due to some that like to get early park admissions and just general noise, so is that what happens or no? Has this happened to you, or is it not like that at all? Would love to hear some of your experiences of Resort stays. Take care out there and stay safe everyone |

Personally I think it’s very hit and miss. Stayed onsite 6 times, last time (2019) riverside was noisy, we were no where near the pool but there were loads of teenagers and lots of screaming. I’ve stayed off site a few times and had one occasion where a man was on his mobile outside the room at 4am on a business call VERY LOUDLY. generally I’ve not been disturbed on Disney property. There are very few internal hallways , most WDW hotels are motel style with outdoor hallways and of course you will, as with anywhere, get noisy families passing by. I’m not sure it’s anything you can do anything about.
Edited You can’t compare onsite to a villa apples and pears and WDW properties are so very different, it’s more about the immersion rather than the quality IMHO Edited at 02:04 PM. |

It depends who your neighbours are!
We’ve had noisy neighbours (once with VERY loud and inappropriate erm bed language) at a few Disney hotels ... luck of the draw!

We stayed at OKW one time and had very noisy neighbours one evening.
At 11.30pm we phoned reception and complained. Within 10 mins the Disney Security were knocking on their door, and the noise stopped instantly. Never had any more problems. Disney332

Thanks for both your replies. I suppose you are absolutely right, it is all a bit hit and miss isn't it?
So Disney Resorts have much less internal corridors then do they, when compared to Universal Hotels? That's interesting. I suppose after staying in Rosen hotels on more than a few occasions, with the calming noise of air con and traffic nearby on the i.4 and it being outside rather than inside, noise isn't quite as noticeable when compared to internal corridors I suppose? Keep the comments coming though, I'm intrigued by Dibbers thoughts/views/opinions |

We’ve stayed in quite a few hotels on I drive and only once had a noisy neighbour who security dealt with very quickly

We usually stay in the Rosen Inn on Intl Drive and never really experienced noise, although we’ve always requested a room furthest away from laundry room, lifts etc. and it depends on other guests!
We also have enjoyed a one night stay in Universal Royal Pacific and we found that really quiet!

All the value and moderates have external corridors. The deluxe have internal.
We’ve stayes at both. Only rarely had issues with noise. Once in at CSR when a school Party were staying. Security did come and shut them up. I think you could just as easily encounter a school party off site. Jus t bad luck. Once at the Boardwalk we were right above bell services and could hear them working. Other than that I’ve never had an issue with noise. I don’t think on-site has any reason to be worse than on-site.

We've stayed at All Stars Sports, Caribbean Beach, French Qtr x 2 & The Contemporary. The only one where we have experienced noise is at The Contemporary, the only one that had internal corridors. Never had to report a neighbour, but in fairness by the time we get into bed we all pass out and an earthquake couldn't wake us!
