Always bear in mind no matter how much you pay the carcasses of units are MDF. That sucks up moisture like a sponge if any ends aren't sealed.
I would be getting to the root of the moisture first before spending thousands on new kit as MDF will soon bulge and then the surface material will come off.

I’ve never heard of anybody having this issue with kitchen units.
Maybe there’s a bigger issue that’s causing it. We get a lot of condensation in our bathroom in the winter, even the heavy duty extractor doesn’t help. I think it’s because the outside wall gets so cold that the moisture in the air from the hot shower just runs down it as it cools. Maybe there’s just too much heat produced in your kitchen that isn’t extracted away? |

The best thing we have isn't part of the fitted kitchen, its a walk in pantry. It was previously an alcove about 4' x 6', probably for the maid's bed and we had a stud wall and door put up. Its great for all the non-fridge food, tins, jars and packets and we also have the freezer and pot stand in there. Once the door is closed, all the mess is hidden, but easily accessible

We’re getting a new kitchen fitted in a couple of weeks and agree with poster who said about things pushing price up. We managed to negotiate better appliances to secure the deal and apart from the fact we couldn’t have a pull out larder that I would have liked, we have got a few upgrades on current kitchen-quartz work surfaces, four in one tap, wine cooler, two built in self cleaning, fan ovens with timer, built in bin and all appliances are integral so hopefully it will all look good when done

Best thing in my kitchen is a tall larder cupboard. It was the most expensive thing but I still love it 6 years on! Don’t know how I managed without it before!

We did our kitchen twelve years ago and the best decision was creating a walk in pantry. All food is in there other than what is in the fridge, a full shelf of cookbooks and the appliances we don’t have out permanently. I also have the washing machine in there as we don’t have a utility room.
I have to echo other comments on damp. I have never heard of “sealed” kitchen cupboards nor anybody having the issues you describe. My house is old, there is no heating source in the kitchen and I don’t have a hob extractor. But I have never had any damp or condensation issues and my spices collection is safe. |
