seats together on BA

just booked for july-aug with BA, mainly fly with AA/ VIRGIN/ DELTA and when with BA been lucky enough to be in business class so never had to consider paying for seats, would of booked extra leg room as don't mind paying if im getting something but there isn't 3 together, what are the chances of 3 adults being sat together, I know theres no guarantee but just want peoples experience so I can decide if I want to risk waiting

Interested you got your BA club class seats free, if not silver or above they are now around £100 per seat.

BA does not split parties up deliberately, and generally in economy the chances of a party of 3 being seated together at OLCI is pretty good.

The odds of being split go up a bit when two things coincide - the cabin is full and there are a lot of families with under 12s (and/or those paying, though this tends to be a minority in economy). This reduces the number of seats left available at check-in, increasing possibility of a split. That said, it’s still a relatively low chance of being separated, just a bit higher. Obviously Jul/Aug to Florida in economy is usually fairly busy.

In a party of 3, in economy I would lean towards not paying and taking my chances, but as you say, not guaranteed.

Indeed, though perhaps the OP meant that adjacent seats were less of a requirement for them in CW, So they didn’t consider paying, unless free seat choice was obtained by other means. Bronze would also get free seat choice from 7 days out.

We chose not to book our seats in Sept, there was 3 of us, and I checked in at the 24-hour point and we got 3 seats together, no problem.

when I flew club world it was paid for by insurance due to breaking my leg in florida, so maybe they paid for it lol, its the only time ive done long haul with BA, was 2015. ill take my hances I think & watch if seats fill up, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we were split, but would prefer to be together but not for £300 return
