Would you borrow points yet?

I'm trying to wait until 7 months to make any changes to our February booking as hope by then we'll have a clearer picture of where we are with points BUT I'm really tempted to book a cabin during our February stay, which will mean borrowing some of '23 points into '22.

My concern is that I have '20 & '21 points tied up in our October stay, so if that gets cancelled, then I'd be able to bank '21's into '22 and wouldn't need the '23 ones, which I then won't be able to put back.

I know I'm probably overthinking this, but that's what I do and it's a rare day off when I get to obsess about holiday planning.

Would you do it yet, or wait for some more certainty?

It's hard to advise on this one. I have a September/October booking and I have no idea if we'll be going or not. How disappointed would you be if you didn't get the cabin? If you use the borrowed points and then banked the 2022 ones would you be going again in the right time frame to use them?

Personally I wouldn’t - we have a Sept / Oct trip this year and have only used banked and current points.

We will also cancel if needed before holding so that we can bank the current points if this year looks like it won’t happen.

Obviously next year feels more promising but I’d be worried about having too many points (is that even possible)?

I’ve just borrowed some for August. I put it off for a while, and then decided that in the worst case I will rent them out. I’m not convinced it was the right decision, but I decided to go with it.

I’ve never had too many points! Stay somewhere lovely you couldn’t usually afford for a few nights.

Yes, well I borrowed 2 points to make a copper creek reservation, I can live with that. Like 100 though, tough call.

Definitely not, splurging IMO just gives it even more value. The more decadent the accommodation, the more I feel we've had out of our membership, as we'd be so unlikely to pay cash for those rooms
