Yes, all in all, it means the closure of 13 restaurants and fast-food outlets, as well as the Pirates Cove mini-golf. The pandemic had already put paid to the old Goodings supermarket and the handful of other shops in that plaza, and the whole area back there is looking really sad.

It's unknown if there will be more development there in future, as it's hard to see that whole space being needed, although the plan is to have an off-ramp from the motorway that leads directly to Disney's Hotel Boulevard.

There is no official completion date as yet, although I would estimate at least 2 years for something as big as this to be completed.

Spent many trips to the Crossroads starting in 1991 when we stayed near there. Goodings was the nearest supermarket and the shops were more upmarket then. I remember the art gallery.

Yes, the whole plaza as originally built in 1988 was intended to be a slightly cheaper - but still smart - alternative to the Walt Disney World Village (as it then was, before becoming Disney Village Marketplace, then Downtown Disney and finally Disney Springs!), for the fast-developing local market and new tourist hotels springing up in Lake Buena Vista outside the Disney border. It was quite smart for much of the 1990s, but started to lose its lustre as the anchor store of the Goodings supermarket began to go more downmarket from around 2005 on. It had already been a bit of a struggle in recent years, and then came the pandemic. Now it is all destined for that Great Redevelopment in the Sky!

Sadly, that is one of the 13 restaurants that will have to close. The only other one in Florida is near Miami airport

However, if you haven't tried Chuys (in several Orlando locations) they are also very good for Tex-Mex.

2nd trip OKW 1994 ish we got the little boat downtown and walked to Goodings did a "big shop" then Taxi back "home". The taxi driver Rog became our "driver" and friend for the next 12 or so years. Always thought as soon as Goodings shop was packed away at the OKW villa our holiday began. Happy memories.

Was a great store if not bit pricey!

Back in the days of $2 to the pound Goodings always seemed good value to us tourists without cars. Once you had a car and found Publix or Walmart, Goodings was not somewhere you went back to.

Last time we went there was a visit to Buffalo Wild Wings. When we got back to the car I turned on the radio and there was no signal - someone had stolen the aerial from the hire car. Wanting to avoid any extra charges on taking the car back, we stopped off at the WDW Car Centre during a visit to MK.

I spent quite a while on the phone there reporting the issue - most of the time spent explaining that we were all fine and not traumatised by the event!

Having been through all that, someone from the car centre then went out to their car lot, removed an aerial from another hire car, stuck it on our car and sent us on our way.

Terrific memories (but, yes, it WAS a bit pricey, especially with a Winn-Dixie store just half a mile further north!).
