Ds really fancies the airboat and it’s good to know you don’t need to go all the way to the Everglades for this
The airboats are certainly good in the Orlando area, I have done Boggy Creek x 4 and Spirit of the Swamp x2. Having said that, if you want it rough, raw and real close to big Alligators, you really cannot beat Buffalo Tiger on the Tamiami Causeway, not too far from Miami. They like eating ‘Cheesits’.

These are wild Alligators. If you look carefully, you can see their young in the water.

My friend has swum with manatees in Crystal River and highly recommends it. If you are doing Kennedy also look at Astronaut Hall of Fame which is just before Kennedy. There are plenty of things for kids to do.

If you did decide to head down to the Everglades for an airboat ride then a really interesting place to call in is Ted Smallwood's Store at Chokoloskee Island. He was a trade who traded with the Seminole Indians and his family left the store with all the contents complete and it is now opened as a museum. It is a fascinating insight into life in days gone by.

If you're going in the winter month then Big Bend power station is a great place to go and see manatees also whilst you're in the Tampa bay area, Fort De Soto is kinda magic and St Johns Pass too especially at sunset.

Spirit of the Swamp is the best airboat ride we've had. Private tours, all with headsets so you can talk and hear each other over the very noisy boat.

Old Town car cruises are good.

So many excellent mini golf courses in the area.

Love an evening of cut throat mini golf and pizza. Usually loads of vouchers around.

Wonderworks is fab for kids. Hands on interactive. We go for the outta control comedy show (plated shared tables with strangers) but you don't go for the standard of food. Comedians are funny and age appropriate. Evening then of wandering around wonderworks, climbing in the highropes course in the roof and lasertag battles. Excellent. Closed toe shoes and a free morning the day after needed. Have to drag my kids out at 1am 😁. DH has usually had enough an hour or two before that ☹️. Again. Vouchers for both. Do t pay full price.

Applies to.everything I think. Except spirit. Never seen vouchers for that or state parks. Otherwise...

Sarasota for the Moate Aquarium and their cruises. Further afield, Good Time Charters in Estero is a fantastic day out with lots of dolphin sightings and a tour of the mangrove islands with very helpful narration

Brevard County zoo is a lovely little zoo, it has an amazing water play park for children. I love Blue Springs State park, the boat trip is brilliant and very informative, saw gators every time we did it, and you can tube in the park too. De Leon State park is also nice with a boat ride, swim area and restaurant you can cook your own pancakes at the table. Clearwater aquarium then afternoon on the beach is a lovely day trip - stay for sunset at the pier. Kissimmee Old Town on a Friday or Saturday everning for the old cars is another must. Wild Florida with the airboat ride was another great place to visit. Shingle Creek and the pioneer village was another interesting place, very close to Kissimmee.
