Oh and plain bread with the crusts cut off fit my toastie maker just right the crusts make great home made breadcrumbs for scotch egg that’s got to be made with black pudding round the egg first then use square sausage for the outside layer my mother made it like this years before the hairy bikers and posh nosh pups did

l love a slice of Lorne sausage on a fresh morning roll but was never a fan of plain bread it was always dry l much preferred the pan bread

Loads of butter and a square so hot it melts it with a cup of strong tea. That combats the dryness.
