Last two weeks in August

Hi everyone, next year will be my hubby's 40th and we plan to go on our 6th once in a lifetime holiday to the mouse .

We have always gone in Sept, however, now our little one is starting school we are now looking at late Aug as an option.

What is Late Aug like in terms of crowds/weather and just in generally. We usually go 1st two weeks in September.

We have been 6 times the last 2 weeks of august we have always found it cheaper and lower crowds than the first two weeks of august don't get me wrong its still busy but you do notice a difference especially the last week. It's also very hot but with a typical orlando rain storm every day but clears quickly. Never been in September so can't compare it but we love it this time of year 😁

Yes it is manageable. 3rd week was noticeably busier than 4th week for us.

We have done both September and end of August. September is quieter but not by a lot to the final week of August. The third week is probably a bit busier but still manageable.

We had more storms in August than September, but it wouldn’t put me off if I needed to go that time of year again.

We always go the last 2 weeks of August, most of the local kids have gone back to school by then which does make a difference. Disney will always be busy whenever you go. We have found SeaWorld Busch and Universal to be less busy. Usual rules apply get to the parks for opening to get the most done in the magic first hour.

We found the humidity to be a killer, we usually go Sept/Oct. It was busy, but we utilised fastpasses and did parks early or later in the afternoon. Did the pool in the afternoon.

We have been late August many times. Disney is busy regardless but Busch is noticeably quieter and Universal is a bit quieter.

The weather is hit and miss - generally the storms are a couple of hours in the afternoon and manageable but they can be longer and a pain in the butt. However we have also been in June/July and it was just the same.

Book it - nothing is negative enough to say do not go

We have been going the last 2 weeks in August since our DS started senior school and he is now doing a levels. Going this year at the same time. We were dreading the 1st year we did it because of the heat and humidity but we found we coped. You do acclimatise a bit and learn how to deal with it. Up early then rest mid afternoon then out again at night. Walk everywhere via air conditioned shops when you can and take cooling towels- we find they work. In 6 years we have only been totally washed out in a storm once.
One of the things we do now is book a sit down meal in the middle of the day to get some rest and cool down so you are ready to go again rather than do this in an evening. End of August is particularly good as you have the summer weather, can do a MNSSHP and if lucky food and wine all in one trip 😎

Another who's been doing the end of August for many years due to school holidays (those 'kids' are now 17 & 24). It's hot but you manage the heat, as has been said, use the air con, go for a swim during the day rather than having full, long days in the parks.

The parks are noticeable quietER (not quiet) as the southern state schools have gone back. We like it, last time for us this August going at that time as DS is in 6th form now, so looking forward to checking out different term times!

The US schools tend to go back around 15th August, so prices can be lower, and apparently the parks might be less busy. We’ve gone in August every visit, and there’s not much difference in how busy everything is.

However, I use the busy day guide to pick parks.
