? Torn bicep... anyone had or had similar

I picked up my grandson on Monday this week as he fell over and said he couldn't walk, carried him home where suddenly the lure of chocolate meant a dash to the kitchen cured all

On Tuesday I woke up with a great deal of pain in my left arm, which has not gone as of this morning. It is in the bicep area, feels tender to touch and has a hot burning sensation.

Basically, I think I have torn the muscle and wondered if anyone has had similar and apart from brufen and rest any other advice. I am loathed to phone NHS as this is non-urgent with the current circumstances and whilst as a retired nurse I have experience in many areas this is not one of them. I know there are plenty of fitness people on here so am thinking this might be an injury you are aware of

THANKS in advance

Of course, if you do not know the answer, then yes I am seeking some there theres and sympathy

I’m not a medic but suspect you have a strain/sprain rather than a tear. I have only ever torn one muscle but the pain was immediate and excruciating. Given the onset of pain was the next day, it’s likely to be a strain/sprain and the usual RICE procedure plus painkillers is probably the best way forward. Jmo - good luck.

My DH tore part of his bicep off (I don't remember the details and he's not here to ask). By the time he went to get it looked at it was too late to fix it back on. Phone 111 for advice.

Yes I have , it wasnt a torn bicep it was bicep tendinitis. Extremely painful I couldn't move my arm at all . For almost 2 days without crying in pain.
I did go to hospital and they just gave me strong pain killers and anti inflammatory meds. And a set of exercises . I had to put ice on for 5 mins every hour as well

It was really hard to do them at first but hold arm to you side and lift it in front out straight, then the same out to the side. Then to the front but bend the elbow.
It started to improve after 2 days, it was about 18 months ago and I still get twinges even now

Mine was a very sudden onset. So may not be what I had then. I was lying on the sofa and pushed myself up and I felt it go. I was screaming when it happened.

Snap. I have had this. I had pain going from the inside of my elbow all the way to my shoulder. I took anti inflammatories and used ice. Plenty of rest too. It took about 6 weeks to get better.

Also agree with others that it sounds like a strain rather than a tear.

Hopefully in a day or two you'll be feeling better.

Take care
