Virgin Atlantic subtitled films for hearing impaired

I've flown with VA lots of times but not since they put the new IFE system in, and I wondered if there were any Dibbers who are hearing impaired who have flown and used the new IFE?

In the past, none of the IFE movies were subtitled, and they had a very small number of subtitled DVDs to use in a DVD player they provided, but now apparently there are some films subtitled in the new IFE, but no idea what quantity. They will still have the portable DVD player if needed.

Anyone? Thanks

mazzy the video player is still avalible, the last time we flew with VA, there were no subtitles. Had to laugh as cabin crew then offered DH the head phones and said to try them!.
this was over a year ago, so hoping that its changed, otherwise we are armed with the kindle!

Hi there, Jules! Nice to see you. So was the 'plane you flew on a refurbished one with the new touch screen IFE or was it the older IFE? The 'planes being used for Manchester have been completely gutted, and it's touch screen now, I believe, with some subtitled films available, that was Special Assistance who told me that, but was just trying to find out if it was true, lol.

Not sure if this is any help, but I came across an article which said that all Virgin international flights have 'neck loops' on board which work with the T switch on a hearing aid.

Thanks John, yes they do, but I'm not able to use them, so need subtitles, do appreciate you posting though.

On the new IFE from Gatwick, flicking through the films I noticed some, not all, were listed twice. That is because one was standard and the other subtitled.

There is no option to turn on or off CC, and there wasn't a huge selection of films with CC.

Thanks, sounds about what I was expecting, thought I really don't know why they can't have the option to put them onto every film, seeing as it's a brand new IFE system.

Anyone else flown recently and actually used the subtitled films on VA, I would love to hear from you.
