Fort De Soto Beach

Hi all,
I've been reading about Fort de soto beach and it looks amazing. We are hoping to visit in August.
Has anyone tied in a trip to Busch gardens followed by stay in fort de soto beach area so you can get a full beach day the following day?

We love FdS beach, it’s brilliant, it’s a long drive but well worth it.
Planning on booking a hotel nearby so we can stay a bit longer in the area.
Would have thought BG would be easy to get to from FdS,
BG is only an hour away from the parks.

It is about an hour from BG,there are tolls getting onto the island and a 5 dollar beach access fee. Rated 1 in US

It is a lovely place to visit we went last year when we stayed at St Pete's Beach, it was only a 15 minute drive from our hotel. We saw manatees near the fishing pier.

Fort Desoto is my favourite place on Earth. We drive over from Orlando three or four times each trip and have probably been in excess of 30 times. We love the fishing when we are there, but have recently tried the kayak rental...great fun and highly recommended. The shelling is excellent as well as the beautiful empty beaches.
From our location on Hwy 27, it is a 90 minute drive via the I4 and I275, however, for another 15 minutes drive you can incorporate the Sunshine Skyway Bridge via the I75 which is an experience in itself.
We often tie in a trip to Ellenton Mall en-route to Fort Desoto.

Think we will give this place a visit when we stay at St Pete's beach.

We stopped at the Island Grand at St Petes beach and always visit Fort Desoto - luv walking around and just generally chilling out

Thank you for your replies guys. We are now thinking of staying at St. Petes after a day at Busch and then visiting fort de soto the following day. It's good to hear it's only 15 minutes from there.
