HHN and the children?

Hi,
ok we are looking to visit again in October 2018 for DD 14th birthday. however we are tied the school holidays so can only do the half term week, She is fine with this and has chosen Universal/IOA as the parks she wants to do, as we said trying to do both Disney and universal plus shopping in a week would be a nightmare. ( I am hoping to book mnsshp as a surprise though)
My question is this- I am a major wuss as is DD and we know that whilst out there HHN is on. we will not have tickets for this but what are the odds of the horror characters being around as we are leaving the park? or do they only come out once non ticketed guests have gone? May sound silly but being chased by a chainsaw wielding maniac, or a clown etc etc is my idea of hell.

They will not appear till after park has closed.the gates will open then there is an opening ceremony where they will appear .x

You will see some of the horror sets & likely scary statues but the scareactors don't come out until the start of HHN- Studios closes at 5:00pm, they physically clear the park & the party usually starts about 6:30 although official opening ceremony will be at 7:00pm.

Universal is very good at separating "day" from "HHN". Everyone who is staying are herded into holding areas with your tickets scanned as you enter the holding pens.

They clear the park of the stragglers and start to bring out the main decorations. Some will be in place in the day such as a tank or bushes or cars but they are often partially covered.

You will have a brilliant time

We were there during hhn during the day and didn't see any props, maybe we just weren't looking in the right places.
