where can i see them? preferably somewhere we can easily take a toddler (so the kayak tour i found is out!)

maybe a glass bottomed boat tour? are there any in an aquarium or something? (dont wanna go to seaworld!)

Epcot, if they are still there!

They are at The Seas with Nemo & Friends.

There are viewing points and tour companies along the banana river - Cape Canaveral to Merritt Island - but it's dependent on the time of year as they tend to come in during the winter when the water is warmer.

The manatees at Epcot are rescues (either from boat strikes or cold water stress) they are rehabilitated and whenever possible released back into the wild.

The best interaction we had with manatees was in Key Largo (sorry if this is too far for you) - we stayed at the Hampton Inn which has a small 'beach' at the back you can swim from - the Manatees would swim right past you and into a small inlet next to the hotel. One of them stood on my foot

The Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota has a manatee and has a partner next door, Sarasota Bay Explorers, who offers Wildlife tours with a chance of encountering both manatees and dolphins. It depends if you want to travel that far as its about 140 miles.

key largo is a tad too far, but sarasota is doable, so far Mote Marine Laboratory is the likely candidate
