Universal Preferred to Premier Upgrade

Hi,

Has anyone upgraded from Preferred Annual Pass to Premier?

My annual pass runs out in June this year and I will be going in April and wondered what chance their might be to upgrade it to Premier AP to benefit from the Express pass after 4pm each day, does anyone have any experience of doing this?

Thanks
D

you can upgrade your AP, either in person, or over the phone using he passholder line (US number)

if you do it over the phone, you'll be able to use your pass to enter the parks but you'll need to go to guest services to exchange your pass, since it will be a different color.

Now, for the (maybe) bad news. Uprades to higher tiers can only be done at the renewal period.
this does not mean that you won't be able to upgrade in april, but it means that your Premier AP will have the same expiration date. So your Premier AP will still expire in June this year

and why is it possibly a bad news ? Because you will pay the full upgrade price, and not a price calculated on the number of days remaining on your AP

the price you'll pay, will be that of the difference between Premier and Preferred as it was at the date you purchased your Preferred (or upgraded it)
so you'll pay the full upgrade price despite having just a few months remaining

As above, I think if you fall in the renewal period which I think is 30 days before and after you can upgrade based on the year ahead. But doesn’t look like that will fall in your dates sadly.

nope that doesn't seem to matter anymore

you can upgrade anytime you want during the validity of your AP (you used to only be able to do it when in renewal period, but it seems to no longer be the case)

the only thing is that they don't calculate a percentage for the remaining number of days on your AP, they just flat bill the full amount.

I read in the UOAP group on Facebook recently, that if it’s in renewal period you upgrade to the pass you want to change to, rather than upgrading before that and having to pay 12 months worth previous even if only 2 months until renewal.

Could be worth an email to guest services for OP to check though
