Favourite 5 things to do in ( or around) San Francisco ?
So doing a feasibility study on a trip to New York for a few days then flying to Vegas to start a road trip through Death Valley to Yosemite to San Fran and down the Pacific coast highway before flying home
For each place / area , I will be asking for your 5 favourite / must do things Starting with this one in San Francisco So please put your favourite 5 things to do, in ranking order if possible It would be useful if you could put an approx time required , and approx cost per person If there is anything you think is over-hyped or a waste of money , please let me know And anything that was a bit of a little known gem that you were really glad you did Looking forward to all your suggestions

Top 5 as I see it right now.
1. Dylan’s ultimate tour.. cycle past Girardelli, over the bridge and down to Sausalito before a minibus trip up to Muir Woods and then a lift back in to San Francisco over the bridge... Done it, loved it. 2. Alcatraz. Iconic and unusually for me, I loved the audio guide. Loved it and doing it and going again at Easter. $159 for 4 of us 3. The love tour. 2 hrs in an air cooled, hand painted VW Camper, complete with Shag Pile Carpets and 1960s music as it tours SFO including Haight Ashbury. Doing it at Easter. $180 for 4 of us. 4. Powell Cable Car up to Union Sq. An absolute scream with a great comedy performance by the driver. $14 each for one way? 5. The Sealions at Pier 39. Free Also really looking forward to the San Francisco evening ghost hunt walking tour of the Nob Hill area. $84 for the four of us.

Excited about Disney
|
1) City tour with Painted Ladies - classic VW bus 3h $65pp
2) Alcatraz night tour 3h $58 book tickets from Alcatraz cruises website which is the direct company others might not actually take you to the island, 3) Cycle GG bridge to Sausalito, we hired bikes from blazing saddles (Groupon 2 for 1) half a day, full price is £30ish pp plus $13 for ferry back 4) Walt Disney Family museum (if you're a fan) $25, 2-3h 5) Fisherman's Wharf + pier39 area including visit to sea lions + big Boudin Bakery which is a bit further up, so cheating a little bit, cost and time is up to you Edited at 09:03 AM. |

Following along on this as we're considering doing a trip (just me and DW) next spring - a few days in SF then a few days in Vegas.
