Last time I saw the 'got a good upgrade price', I rang BA and it was £250+admin fee to upgrade from a standard (Ford Edge) SUV to a Full size (Chevy Tahoe) SUV. Just rang to day and after a long hold spoke to a lovely lady who gave us an upgrade for just £58 including the admin fee, patience has paid off

I haven't had a chance to read through the whole thread... but when I input booking details on the link provided, is the figure shown what you would pay in total for car hire, or is it what you pay on top of what you have already paid?

We currently have a group Z booked for next year but need to upgrade to a group L as my parents are now coming with us. Looking on the flight/Car booking page there is difference of £118 between the 2 classes.

Looks like no one has tried this lately?
I will give a call up to see if I can get an upgrade as the prices look good to me when I check online.

Unable to get a good price on the phone. Also if I changed the booking online I would still have to pay £25 fee for any changes due to having a package deal (flydrive). Not sure if this is correct, will look into it later on. be patient if you ring up, I had to wait 30 mins to get through! Also the advisor did mention that the prices I see online are not correct as I booked last June!

I just used the this guide, it is showing my rental at £9 dearer than I paid. Also to upgrade would be way to much, so will use this for bench marking.

Thanks to RickT for taking the time to post the guide.

I had similar when I rang up today to go from Luxury (H) to a Premium SUV (L). BA Cust Services said it wasn't the difference that showed on my booking today but against what I paid when I first booked it. So would have been £300+ rather than the £23 the method on Page 1 suggested.

I wonder if they have stopped doing this now? Or have we been talking to untrained staff?

Interesting...

Just to all, I note there's a 20% sale on with avis at present, so if the process on page one still works, there maybe some savings to be add.
