Gas and electricity shocker

Just realised my 12 month deal with edf is nearly up.
Checked out deals on a compare website and the prices have rocketed by 25% if I want a fixed deal.
So much for renewable energy being the way forward. I doubt we will ever get to a time when it’s cost affective for the ordinary person.
God knows how someone on an average income with kids can heat their homes.
Apparently the caps are also ending which will encourage even more price hikes.

This country is in a bit of mess due to green policies.
My Daughter works in Nuclear. Build more Nuclear Power Plants is the way forward and stop relying on imports from Europe.

History always shows what the answer was.

I’m with EDF and my deal has just ended. They sent me a new tariff but it didn’t say how much so I rang them to check and it was comparable to all the others. I normally switch to the cheapest but there was no difference. I got a new boiler in March and not had the hearing on much since plus with lockdown and DH and both boys at home for a significant chunk, im hoping even with the price increase that this year won’t be as expensive as last. 🤞🏻

We are with Octopus and their rates are pretty good

We have just had a smart meter installed this week which means that in a couple of weeks we can switch to some tariff that gives us 5p/kwh for 4 hours overnight - so we can put the washing machine and dishwasher on then
plus our hot tub when it arrives can be run overnight too

Not a good time to buy a hot tub

We were with them. Gone just with approx £400 credit on our account ready for the winter months.

We use ‘we look after your bills’ and they’ve said our credit is protected but I have a bad feeling about it all.

I promise, faithfully, your money is safe - having worked in and around this situation since the market opened many many years ago (1997-8)

Take a meter reading for both fuels in case it’s needed (which if you’ve had a long history of estimates it will help).

Your cash is safe.
