Disney Room/block preferences and requests
Morning Dibbers!
I’m fairly new to the forum and this is my first question, in anticipation of Thursday. I have been reading your useful advice for a few months though, so thank you for your help to date. When booking accommodation directly with Disney, is there a ‘special requests’ option to request a specific room area/block/floor level as part of the online booking process? Or is it best to call them up directly closer to the time? I’m generally a fan of higher floors, and I know some resort rooms don’t all have full balconies, so I’d want to request a full balcony if we booked a resort which may compromise this. Many thanks. |

I normally alwaysnphone disney to put in room requests. These requests are never guaranteed but we’ve always been reasonably lucky.
Is it the Beach Club you are looking at if you are talking about not all rooms having full balconies? The yacht club next door has full balconies and they share the pool.

Hello, and welcome to the Dibb! Whoever you book with, you can put your reference into My Disney Experience, and your booking will be there; this is around 9 months or less to your check in date. You will also have the option to do online check in nearer the date, and you can select room/floor/location preferences at that time. They are only requests, though. Some people send a fax or call the room reservations at Disney (sorry don't have those details) around 5 days ahead, to be more specific. Again it's only a request. The Touring plans site (subscription required) will send a fax for you too. Results vary of course. Hope that helps!

Thanks both 😀 that’s a great help, makes it easier not to have to think about preferred location just yet when booking.
Yes we were thinking of either Beach Club (hence the balcony request), or Yacht club (lagoon view) depending on price diff. As the saying goes, ‘if you don’t ask, don’t get’, so I thought I’ve got nothing to lose by putting in a request nearer the time, and it’s not the end of the world if it’s not fulfilled. |

Garden View is nice. We’ve done garden view at both. Beach club we had a nice view of the lake side gardens
and yacht club we were upgraded to a lagoon view, we ended up having to move rooms due a to a problem but both views were lovely. ( sorry don’t have actual photos on my phone but these are from one of my food reports. ) Both resorts are lovely but my personal preference is the Yacht Club, I like the decor and feel of the resort more. I’d happily stay in either again though such an amazing location. Edited at 09:52 AM. |

Thanks for the photos, both views look lovely, we would be using the balcony a fair but so it would be important to have a good vista for a few drinks on an evening. 🥂

Our yacht club stay was one of the trips we used the balcony the most the other was contemporary theme park view. It was lovely for sitting on first thing in the morning as well especially those first few days that you are up early.

We subscribed to ‘touring plans’ to do the room request for our BC stay last year as I really wanted a full balcony. We got the exact room we requested ( you can actually type in your criteria and touring plans will show you the room for that particular room). Problem was- they were renovating the outside of the building so when we opened the blinds there were a load of workmen in high vis jackets just outside the room! We went to rec and asked to be moved and got switched to a garden view room ( didn’t have the full balcony though but could t complain really as was an upgrade!)
Next year we have booked garden view at the YC to make sure we have the full balcony. Will still use Touring Plans again to put a specific room request in though 😀 |

Thanks for the info- Yes I think I might just sign up to Touring Plans- it’s excellent to be able to get an idea of which rooms look out on to certain areas.

I subscribed to Touring Plans the other day so I could put in a room request for OKW. Someone on another thread mentioned that if you go through the Mousesavers website you can get 20% off your subscription.
