Also to take into consideration is the fact that if you film anything outside of you property boundary ie the road in front of your house or your neighbours garden, you will also have to comply with the GDPR.

A couple of suspect individuals delivered a sofa the other week, working for a courier for a major sofa company, caught them on CCTV.
This is how the mindset works.
First they my wife said please go around the back. One said ‘I’ll just come through with the cushions’. He wanted to come in and see what was in the place, and before my wife could stop him, he was in. He then went through to the conservatory looking about as he came through the house. My wife serves in the police, so had his number straight away and locked the front door.
He saw my wife’s commendation certificates and asked if she was in the police. He then went out of the back.
I reviewed all the footage.
He tries yet again to get in the front door, but couldn’t as it was locked, ‘She’s f****g locked it’ he says to himself.
He then speaking to his pal at the front of the house; ‘ She’s a f****g detective ‘ he says.
Then they spot the cameras and they are purposely looking for them. ‘Look, there’s another f****g camera there , it’s all camered up’ one says to the other as they come down the side of the house. I also picked them up talking about how I had high security locks on the conservatory.
I’ve little doubt these two were a couple of villains, but deemed my property too high risk.
I’ll keep my cameras, they are a deterrent.
Believe it or not 20 years ago I had my wallet stolen by another sofa delivery man. Police told me he had a list of convictions as long as your arm, including a machete attack.

Surely that could be said for most criminals with regards to cctv? Maybe having it would be a deterrent, all I know is I don’t want to have to tell my kids that there beloved pets have been not only killed but mutilated too or risk them even finding their pet on the drive away like that. I just want to protect them the best I can.

It would just for my driveway and garage as he’s been known to break into back gardens, but thank you.
