Downgrading from OKW in 2020?
Hi all
We’re planning a trip back to the magic in August 2020 having not been since August 2017. We have 2C who will be nearly 10 and 7 by then and previously we’ve always had a 1 bed villa at OKW because our eldest is autistic and can be up a lot at night. We’ve priced it up for 2020 and as others have said due to exchange rate etc prices have rocketed and so we’re thinking of trying somewhere cheaper, especially as my son now takes melatonin to help him sleep! We’ve enjoyed DDP in the past so could book CBR, save quite a lot and upgrade from QSDP if we want. We’d be able to use the new skyliner. However we could save just a bit and book the beach club, still get DDP, request a room with a balcony and therefore still have a bit of space to sit out after the kids have gone to bed. Plus we’d be walking distance to Epcot and have the boat to HS. Can also pick up car really easily near the end to avoid the onsite charges. Given the August heat the proximity appeals to me to make more of our time as we’re just going to do 9/10 nights before heading to the coast. Anyone with any experience of either that can advise? Also any tips re breakfast? We’ve always had cereal etc in room before going out but guess not so easy in a standard room. Travel kettle might make an appearance! Thanks! |

Hi. I’ve stayed at all of those resorts. If a one bed villa is out at OKW (I loves the accommodation but not the resort personally), I’d go to Beach Club and try and get a ground floor quiet pool view. We’ve had this room allocation there and the patio area is bigger than a balcony so might assist you. Those rooms are also super close to the Epcot entrance and the food court. Bear in mind though not all rooms at the Beach Club have a full size balcony some only have a standing balcony. We’ve also had full balcony rooms there but facing a flat roof. Not the best view I’ve ever had! The Yacht Club rooms all have a full balcony though.

You have a fridge in a standard room so cereal still works. We pack some cheap plastic bowls to keep in the room.

This is what our ground floor Beach Club room looked like. Sorry no decent photo of the patio.
