Mexico in summer months

I was informed today that Mexico isn't a great destination for July/ Aug because of the heavy rain. However reading stats average rainfall didn't seem so bad.
Has anyone been during these months, how bad us the rain?.
I've vusited Jamaica late August and albeit there was rain it never lasted long and soon warmed up and dried up.

Thanks

Years ago and I don't remember the rain being an issue to be honest. What was an issue was the mosquitos! The lagoon in Cancun is a breeding ground that time of year and they really really like me!

Yes we have twice. Remember a couple of showers but nothing to put me off going at that time again

Been 3 times during August and each visit it rained literally once or twice at the most. The longest the rain lasted was 10-20 minutes. Going again in July fingers crossed it will stay dry 🤞.

We didn't get bitten at all in Mexico. In Cancun or near Tulum.

I think the issue was specifically the lagoon & me, I’m a bit of a magnet for them!

We stayed in a villa in Spain last year that had a stagnant pond next to it and we got eaten alive! We're lucky in Mexicio though!
