Trying to remember - you going to Disney? Both parks?
If can afford it, on site of course If not, then the Tokyo Bay Hilton / Sheraton hotels are both highly thought of, have ticket offices inside hotel - thought at the Hilton you have to buy the park tickets in cash. Am staying at the Hilton for 2 nights myself |

if you are going to disneyland for 3 days then I would stay onsite - i.e. in a hotel serviced by the monorail. If you are only going in disney for 1 or 2 days then think about commuting via train as it is easy (if not packed) in a morning/evening.
As for Tokyo, I would stay within 10/15 mins walk of a major train station - Tokyo (if you can afford it!), Ueno, Ikebukuro, Shinbuya, Shinjuku etc. This means you can get on the loop and transfer easily for just about any destination. AirBnB has settled down in Japan now and can be fairly relied upon for the rooms to be registered now - I have not found a reliable way to check the registration numbers online so have relied on reviews myself. Kyoto is a different beast, the subway is more fragmented than tokyo and has a reliable bus network. Personally I have looked within a 10 min walk of the main station so I can transfer easily via bus, subway or JR train. We are commuting from Kyoto to Osaka so cannot comment on hotels in Osaka. |
