Mobile How many euros do you think I will need?

So we are going on a weeks cruise.
Majority of things included.

Not booked any excursions. We are just thinking of having a walk round or catching a tourist bus/train. Sampling some lovely food in little cafes etc. Not really sure what is at any of these places to be honest.

We have 4 ports.
St. Peter port
Santander
La Coruna
Cherbourg

How many euro should we take? We have the credit card as back up anyways and this isn’t taking into account anything we spend on the ship as that’s separate.

There are four of us. Two adults. Kids are 3 & 4.
Breakfast and dinner will definitely be on the ship cos it’s supposed to be a cheap trip.

It depends, will you be drinking alcohol , do you need tip/gratuities ? Are snacks included ?
Perhaps post on the cruise forum and the ship you are on might be better for you .

Yeah I get it’s a how long is a piece of string type question but I haven’t been abroad in such a long time that I just literally don’t know where to start with it. At least with Disney I have an idea as you guys post about places to eat and parking charges etc.

Suppose I’d just have to guess and do €100 a day.

Perhaps people , who’ve been to the ports mentioned, may help on the cruise forum , I do know you will be a captive audience to the restaurants etc where the boat docks though.

I’d base it on what you would spend on a similar trip in the uk, so if you were all visiting a city in England, what sort of things would you buy, how much would you spend on a coffee, cake, souvenirs etc. I tend to think of euros as pounds, as there’s not a great deal in it really, and in the touristy districts the average price of a coffee etc is generally higher.

It’s quite hard to guesstimate a basic cost as for example in Rome, a coffee was €5 outside the Vatican, but only €1,50 a few hundred yards away down a side street.

Well you won't need anything for onboard as all charged back to your account. I'm assuming you're on P&O if its £ on board?

We often don't spend much at all in port. Maybe €20 on a snacky lunch and €10 on a magnet or little souvineer.

I think you need a rough idea of what you want to do in port first. For instance if you want to do HOHO buses you can be looking at €20+ each just for that. If you want a sit down lunch in a restaurant it will cost more. Etc! I've not done any of those ports so can't help much on that front.

Basically. Like for like then there are no nasty surprises, remember though, all those ports will be waiting for tourists to arrive off of cruise ships and will price accordingly.

For instance. I can buy a three course meal with wine and beer for approx €8pp. Head towards the costal regions or even in the centre of our touristy towns and that rises to anywhere between €15 and €20 pp

When we have visitors and they say what should we bring we say bring what it would cost in the UK.

It depends on what you plan on doing when in port. We went on a Med cruise for 7 nights a few years ago. We did all our excursions by public transport as the cruise trips were extortionate. We had breakfast onboard, we don’t tend to eat lunch anyway, just bought a drink/ice cream. I don’t think we spent any more than £300 all week. The tips were prepaid.
