Woody woodepeckers
Me and Mrs MH were walking our doggie yesterday in the park and saw a woodpecker pecking at a side of a tree. Mrs MH was in awe at the sound and believes it's the first woodpecker she's ever seen/heard in real life.
Admittedly it's not the most interesting of posts, but I thought I would share Mrs MH's excitement with you all (whilst drinking my costa). |

Just checking...

It is an interesting sound which tends to wake me every morning! We have a greater spotted woodpecker in our trees but he does come to the bird feeder a couple of times a day

Bit of a blurred pic as he is very nervous and flies off easily. He has a bright red patch underneath

We have woodpeckers beside our house. They go on top of the round street lights about four in the morning and start battering into the top of the lamp. It sound like a military bands snare drums. Really loud.
We discovered that the light attracts beasties thro the night, they land on the sodium light and die. The woodpeckers come along and vibrate the light so the beasties drop out to the ground and they have a little BBQ of insects. Shows how adaptable wildlife can be. |

I am not normally one to brag, however...
... If I were to look out of my kitchen window I can see our local country park. Often we walk there and are lucky enough to have spotted/heard many woodpeckers. If I go upstairs and look out of my sons bedroom window I can see my local Costa branch, literally a 2 minute walk. Like I said, not wanting to brag or anything... 😝😝

Where i walk my dog there's a crow that does a cracking woodpecker impression, only at the end it makes a little popping sound!
It always makes me laugh to hear it, it sounds better than the actual woodpeckers nearby!
