Dont pay too much attention to it! You will alwyas get people who just love to moan about everything, look forward to your cruise, I am sure you will have a wonderful time, my favourite thing is getting that menu in my hand at dinner time, and no washing up! Bliss.

We are doing Fjords with P&O second week in May what ship are you on? We are on Ventura. We stop at Olden, Stavanger, Alesund and Bergen.

We have booked for Olden Kayaking in the morning and also the Briksdal glacier in the afternoon through P&O. The other ports we plan to DIY.

We are on Britannia. I think I may do similar, , book kayaking and DIY the rest. It we don't make the Flam railway so be it, we'll do a hiking trail instead.
We do the same ports as you apart from us calling at Flam, but a month later.

You can book the Flam train before you go. Or even just on the day. We had prebooked but the people sitting next to us has got off the boat when it docked and walked over and bought tickets. It’s extremely close to the port.

We are doing the same cruise in July. The excursions just became available on the P+O site but they are very expensive.

At the moment I am tempted by the Loen Skylift and Kjenndalen Glacier at £86 per person. I have looked elsewhere for independent trips but the Skylift with transport alone is £67.

The Flam Railroad is £97 with P+O. or if you want to cycle back its £120.

The one which I find the most strange is the Bergen on your own trip where for £24 they will give you a map and a voucher for a salmon baguette.

Flam railway was I think 50 Euros. And there is honestly no difference going with P and O.

I've gone ahead and booked kayaking at Olden. When I looked at booking direct with a company it seemed to be a similar price, so I booked with P&O. We've done kayaking a couple of times before on different holidays and loved it

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of the Kayaking at Olden - 3 hour trip and it was £59 pp.

The glacier trip was also £59 pp which I thought was expensive until we researched the price of the shuttle bus which came out at around £40 per person. For the extra peace of mind we booked the P&O one as we are unsure what time the boat actually leaves the port that day and didn't want to be worrying about missing it. If when they release the times we can safely DIY it we will cancel the trip we have booked and do DIY using the shuttle bus.

Judy, I will try and do a trip report when I come back for you to read before you go!

I have never been on P&O so not sure what to expect.

We are doing this same trip on Britannia at the end of Aug. Its a big family trip and we were thinking of doing the Flaam train but not at the prices offered!
Think its very likely we won't book any excursions and will just do our own thing. The group has varying mobility anyway so don't want to commit to too much.
Would be interested in a report when you are back OP!

We have cruised to the Ffords twice with P&O, I strongly advise that you book your trips through P&O if you want to do/go places, we didn't the first time we went and paid for it. You can do Bergen yourself as the town is within walking distance but all the other places you will need to book your trips. the Flamm railway gets full very quickly so if you don't book your trip you may not get on it, this happened to us. Where the ship docks in Norway can be isolated so if you don't book a trip there isn't much too do.
