We have used Helle Hollis in the past. Never had an issue with them.

Thanks everyone for your advise.
I'm assuming with a cost as low as €2.50 for the 7 day rental that wasn't the Zero Excess option for Goldcar via Doyouspain and the €48 is Doyouspain's own excess insurance.

Just be aware of the following with the Doyouspain Excess rather than the Zero Excess option:

Car Hire Excess Information

When you collect your car, Goldcar will ask for a deposit of the excess amount from your credit card.

When you return the car in the same condition it was collected in, Goldcar will refund this deposit.

If there is any damage, Goldcar will retain part or all of your deposit to pay for it. You would then reclaim this amount from your Platinum Insurance.

So Goldcar will still take an Excess off your credit card on arrival, which was something you were concerned about in your first post.

That's the way I see it too.

Goldcar will hold €1400 from my credit card and if there is anything wrong with the car on return it will be deducted from that amount, but if that happens i will claim that amount from Zurich insurance.

Just be aware of scams, such as saying the spare tyre is missing (when it wasnt there to start with) thats a lot of money to have held from your card!
