We used the 17 by mistake a few years ago but it was a lovely drive, sure we went past a real smoke house BBQ place where you could see and smell the smoke.
You do see some really old house etc as well but really enjoyed the drive, once you reach Cape Coral don't expect it to look like Orlando though Rob |

Not really fans of Orlando/Kissimmee now- much preferring places like Palm Harbor & Bradenton. Not been this far south before but hoping it will give us a good base for trips to Fort Myers, Naples & beyond

Not too many traffic lights Crissy, in the towns you go thro, yes, but once on the open dual carriage you may find the odd one, but that's the idea, a gentle drive down vs motorway blatt. Time wise is the same as the I-4/I-75 but 40 mile less. The busiest area is Winter Haven, which is just south of Orlando, once you're thro there it's a canny drive.

Think we might have to try this if we can persuade the satnav not to take the I75 route😎

That would be a great help- the route we were looking at was to follow the I75 South then onto the 41 to ne cape coral. Some of the roads are confusing in having more than one number?

Hi Chris
MCO to Rotonda West, I am familiar with the 1.75 Port Charlotte to Rotonda. The 17 must be quieter than the 1.4 which gets busier every trip we do. Hank |

Hi Chris
If it's not too much trouble could you send me a copy of the route. I'd love to try this drive. It sounds much more interesting than the normal I4/I75 route. Would really love to see the orange groves 😎 We are on Rotonda, like Hank 👍
