Mobile Disney and thunderstorms...

Anybody know what the policy is if you’re in a park and a bad storm hits. It it just basically run for cover and do they close most rides?

Reason for asking is that tomorrow there is a bad one heading in around 3ish and we’re at Animal Kingdom.

A few people have said that they have heard that their outbound flights from MCO will be affected

All speculation and storm watchers welcome.

Policy is they close some outdoor rides and you get wet. It happens pretty much daily in summer. AK has two large capacity shows which you can head to and some amazing shops. If it doesn’t stop then bail and do something else. I’ve only known parks close due to the weather once in 12 years. That was a hurricane.

Yes they will close the outdoor rides. Whether you run for cover or get wet is up to you.

They will close the rides even if it is not raining but there is thunder and lightening reported in the area. Last year we were right at the very front of the queue for Splash Mountsin when they closed it, not raining, it took a long time to find out why it had stopped as this was not summer storm season. We stuck it out and forty minutes later were in the front car when it restarted and then it was a walk on for the next half hour as most people had given up.

We were in AK in August on my birthday when the most incredible thunderstorm hit. Everything shut done apart from Dinosaur and it’s Tough to be a Bug. It didn’t last more than an hour though and things soon reopened. We looked in the shops and got a Starbucks, but as you can imagine everything inside becomes rammed! Maybe get yourself a table in a restaurant before hand if you can see it coming in and sit it out.

Normal drill to my recollection, is to stop boat transportation, and if bad close the water parks.

They close the crazy golf parks as well if thunder and lightening are forecast within so many miles.

The only Park I’ve been in that they actually closed was Typhoon Lagoon.

Were going mk tonight for the fireworks and its forecast to be torrential in that part of the evening!
Most of the morning should be bright and breezy but afternoon onwards scattered showers with possible storms in the evening but they should pass😉
