A quick check on Skyscanner is showing Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff around £550 for indirect (about 14 hrs instead of 9hrs)
Direct from Manchester is £630 with Thomas Cook Direct out/Indirect in from London is £556 with American Airlines (BA really) Paying Virgin £1000 each instead of any of those above is crazy. |

I don't understand the problem , Virgin are no better than BA . Just book the one that offers the best value !

I book Virgin because of their PE (next flight is UC though ) and usually the service is better. That being said I never book that far out and I usually manage decent (ish) prices. I use a lot of search engines which have been mentioned and book with the codeshare airlines as long as I'm absolutely certain that it's the VS flight. My flight for next week I booked mid Dec (though this is on miles so not a great guide). Previous flights I've booked end of Jan for beginning of May (in the sale I believe), Sept for April (did this twice). I've also gone out from alternate airports which have resulted in reduced price on that route. I'm a big Star Wars fan but there is no way I'd go when it opens as it will be heaving, personal choice.

We are the reverse - we can never find BA at a good price compared to Virgin.

There isn't a problem. I was merely curious as to why anyone ever flies with Virgin because whenever I search for flights they come out way more expensive.
