Do I need express passes?
Hi we're going for just one week 22/29 aug staying on I drive in avanti, only doing universal and wondering if it's worth paying to stay at royal pacific 1 night to get 2 days passes, I have £45 in Tesco vouchers so room would cost me approx £100 cash,DH thinks it's a waste as we have room at avanti but wondering how busy parks will be and will we struggle to get on Harry Potter stuff etc, thanks

We haven't stayed in August before, always June/July but the last time we did Universal/IoA we stayed in RPR for one night and to get the benefit of the express pass was amazing! We were able to wander around and not rush from one ride to the other. If you have the Tesco vouchers, I'd definitely recommend it!

We did universal at that time in 2017. We were staying at POR but stayed 1 night at cabana bay and then 1 at RPR to get the express passes. You may not need the passes if you are spending a week at universal but we loved them. We felt like royalty walking past the queue and getting on any ride we wanted 😊

I have been a couple of times at quieter times if the year but I definitely would not want to be without express pass. I felt bad for people in the regular queues!

If you can get a room for £100 then I would do it. We have never seen it that cheap.

We have been twice at that time of year and the parks are very quiet at that time. We have done it with & without express passes & both time queues were fine but for the sake of £100 I would get the room especially with such a short break.

For £100 I would be booking like a shot! Whilst it may not be completely necessary the last week in August it just makes the experience much more pleasurable and you will be delighted with how much you get done.

For a £100 totally. We are just back and express was fantastic even on the couple of days where the park was quiet. Plus RPR is a lovely hotel.

As others have said the parks will be quieter but it's a good price. The new hadgrid ride may not be available for Express pass so that could be a long wait

Express passes are worth every penny.
The last week in August will be quieter, but the Express pass doesnt just save 30-60 minutes standing in a queue, it save 30-60 standing in scorching heat. Any other time of the year, I wouldnt mind standing in a 30 minute queue, but in August, in Universal, its like standing in a pressure cooker. We did both parks in under 2 days and went on every ride at least 2-3 times each. If you hit the parks on a bad day, or have bad luck with the queues, then you would struggle to do all the rides in 2 days without express passes. Couldnt you reduce your stay at Avanti and add Universal to either the beginning or end of your stay. For £145 (Cash and vouchers), its a no brainer.
