3 nights in Paris – nothing to do with that Hilton Hotel bir

Moi – Lana
Mon mari Alex – chief booker and provider of my dream break
Mon mielleur ami Siobhan – co-booker and secret keeper extraordinaire
Mon bon ami Brian, mari de Siobhan - Brian, Siobhan hubby, all round good guy

On Christmas morning whilst opening my pressies I found a beautifully wrapped parcel which surely had be the one Joaquin Pheonix DVD I didn’t have in my possession. I had long ago stopped making subtle hints about wanting this DVD and actually started writing down the title of it, on bits of post-it note beside the words “this is all I want for Christmas”. Alas, after I managed to get all the wrapping torn off it was a “teach yourself French” CD Rom. Great! Especially after I had been making noises about learning Italian. Don’t get me wrong, I love the French but I find their language near impossible to memorise. Trying to remember what is masculine and feminine, to separate my “le” from my “la”, just too much like hard work. Italian – much easier. Anyway I’m doing my much practiced & wholly insincere, “thank you that’s lovely” face and DH tells me to open it properly. Nestled inside the front cover is a copy of an E-ticket to Paris CDG for us and two of our dearest friends. OH god do I feel bad now. Booked for the 8th February for three nights in a four star hotel by the Champs Elysees. Tears follow elated hysteria which follow tears and DH can’t decide if this is a good thing he’s done or a very bad thing. You see I love Paris. Love it more than anywhere else, more than WDW (she says in a hushed voice). I have wanted to return to Paris without our three kids for a romantic break for ages and we never seemed to find the time. DH tells me it’s all organised, the flights, the hotel and the wonderful granny to “baby-sit”. How fantastic, and we can’t wait! How in heavens name did my friends manage to keep it all a secret from me for this long! Shall I phone my friends Siobhan and her hubby Brian to say I’m excited and wish it was February now? Better not as its 6am on Christmas morning and if I show my quite frightening level of hysteria at this stage, they might decide to cancel. Yes, better to break them in gently and play it cool. I phoned at 6.30am instead.
