Los Angeles & Las Vegas

So we are going on a road trip in Oct . The plan is:

3 day - Los Angeles staying in the Tropicana Inn

Then travel to Stagecoach trail to stay at the ranch for 1 week

Then over to Las Vegas for 3 days.

So we have done Florida many times and this is the first time on the West Coast.

What must we do in both locations and on route?
Where to get tickets?

It is myself and the good lady plus the daughter age 15

Flying in to Los Angeles and out Las Vegas.

We love Disney, wife is Disney mad, not to fussed about rides.

Also looking for recommends for hotel in Las Vegas.

We have a hired car so happy to travel.

Any hints and advise to make this 50th Birthday trip for the wife a good one would be greatly appreciated.

if you don't want to stay on the strip, we liked staying at the Tahiti Village Resort, they do run a shuttle to the strip, but you are away from the madness. We like to stop at Calico when driving from LA to Vegas.

As for tickets, we get Disney direct from Disney, Universal and Knotts are normally either with the GO LA Card or this year we have go the California Explorer pass, which means we can do 5 theme parks (we are starting in San Francisco and driving down)

You’re staying in Anaheim so you could do 2 days Disney and a day in one of the beach days or a day at Universal.

The drive to the dude ranch from Anaheim will be over 7 hours accounting for traffic so I would want to get there and not try to sightsee on route.

Hi for vegas have a look at the signature suits, book through the MGM or as we did via airbnb or home away, works out much cheaper.

If you have not been to Vegas before you should only consider staying on the strip you don’t want to fuss around with shuttle busses and cabs are quite expensive though I suppose you can use Uber. Staying in the strip is a unique experience I would suggest
Cheap
Luxor
Tropicana
Excalibur

Mid
MGM
park MGM
Planet Hollywood
New York New York

Top
Bellagio
Ceaders
Mirage

Our fave hotels are Wynn and Encore but I would not recommend for first times
Rd as it’s too far down the strip.

I would add Venetian to the top list, along with Vdara. To your middle would add Ballys. Just stayed in the newer remodeled rooms and they were lovely. Loved the location as well. We are staying at Caesars Palace in December and seriously thinking of cancelling and doing half and half at Ballys we liked it so much.

Karen honestly could not fault it. We had the newer remodeled room which had beautiful big glass shower and lots of bathroom cabinet space. New carpet, sofa and armchair, then the usual desk, then another drawer unit. Sheets were spotless and brilliant white. Lovely clean room. Did kiosk check in which took maybe 4 mins and got into our room at 11.00am. Staff were helpful and our lovely cleaning lady kept asking if we wanted more towels, bathroom products and if everything was ok. There are several exits to Ballys so depending on which way up the strip we were going used different exits, or cut through Paris and out that way to stay cool. It was hot..very hot Stage door bar was out of one exit which was a bit fatal for us as vodka was $9.99 a liter, and they had $1 beers and hot dogs for $2. Was brilliant having the fridge as we stocked up with water etc and pop and it was lovely and cold. You can walk up a back road and end up at Linq which we liked as it saved all the crowds, elevators on the strip. The newer rooms dont have much of a view if that is of a concern to you. Any questions just ask.

Hi Jo I know the area intimately after staying down the road at Tuscany last month! We cut through Bally’s once or twice a day (usually more). What would you suggest I request - if anything - room wise? It sounds great and frankly was a great price ;-)
